Contemporary Jewels Furry friends
Inspired by my furry friend Mr Nibbles , these pieces are made by needle felting wool into objects and jewellery, referencing my attraction to toy animals and childrens book illustration.
Metalwork embellishes the pieces to create the attachments for wearing on the body. Additionally I created a series of holders for these pieces to sit on, hang or interact with, adding to their playfulness and fun.
Described as '3D illustrations', the suggestive nature of these pieces allows them to operate individually or together, inviting you to imagine your own story line.
Jewels 2008 Contemporary Jewellery
These brooches have been made through a variety of processes including casting , etching, repousse, roll printing and ceramic cutting. I am passionate about researching and developing my practice, and my work is continually informed by historical as well as contemporary jewellery.
I frequently find inspiration from the flora and fauna in my environment and enjoy capturing these motifs with my own quirky take on them. Rabbits occur with a prolific frequency as I am completely besotted by their furry loveliness.
